Being a young musician in high school, trying to get better at your instrument by yourself can be challenging. You have dreams of winning that big audition, attending college and becoming a pro at your instrument but not the cash flow to hire a tutor.

I totally get it. I was there too. My family could not afford one more thing to pay for. I wanted to go to school for music so badly but I would never meet the requirements; financially or academically.

Where do you even begin when the world tells you "no"? Will I find a coach who will understand my struggles and support me?

The good news is...

You've come to the right place!

I’m Jenny Bement and I have spent way too many years navigating my way through education trying to find a way to make learning work for me. As a young adult with a learning disability, I was given zero tools to help me prepare for college life. I tried to seek out the answers I needed only to come up empty-handed. That's why I am so passionate about helping students find their path before college and give them the shortcuts I discovered that worked!

"Jenny's care goes beyond music. She delivers results and a new found love for music in her students. She has the patience to get your young musicians up and running. Band directors always call upon her and so should you!"

I had just switched from playing the flute to embracing my inner low brass goddess in this photo (left).

This was the same time when I was told by mentors and educators I trusted :

- You are too stupid to go to college

- You'll be a failure because of your learning disability

- music is not a smart career choice.

Guess what.....

I proved those people wrong

AND So can you!

Growing up we worked very hard in our family business. I knew how to do basic home repairs and lay tile as a nine-year-old! However, it was a constant struggle to pay the bills, regardless of how hard we worked; we were still in poverty.

I know what it is to experience being on state assistance, what it is like to eat commodity cheese & canned peanut butter with a side of judgmental stares.

My family had no extra funds for private music lessons or tutoring. All I had, was my indigenous father who was a self-taught musician. I longed for someone to see my potential and invest in me. I knew that when I became an educator, that I had to do better with all of my students who didn't have the same opportunities as other students and make it so they could receive quality & affordable lessons.

I am passionate about coaching young adult/ high school musicians. I not only care about your progress, but I also take a holistic approach to teaching and that includes taking an investment in your family & culture too. If you are looking for someone who knows how real the struggle is, experience Learning difficulties, self confidence struggles and are ready to discover their true passion of playing their instrument, then let's do this!

" Jenny is an awesome teacher who places top priority on her students' success and best interests. Highly recommend!"

Why am I the coach you need?

In your lessons, you will receive:

  • Tools on how to be creative in your practice sessions

  • Exploration on different ways to calm your anxiety as an artist

  • Gain the self confidence you need to feel secure, safe & supported while playing and exploring your artistry

  • for support to texts, virtual calls and more

  • Specialty Access when you become a student of mine, you become extended family. My support system is yours too!

  • An investment in your future

The tiny idea was dreamt by my father, to start Bement Music Studio. The idea for the studio was imagined because of his learning disability, income status & the discrimination he saw of his brother due to his Dyslexia while in school.

It was from these experiences that he wanted to give others who were in a similar situation a voice and options to succeed.

In Indigenous culture, it is your responsibility in your community to help others who are in need.

My goal is to use our family name, values & Entrepreneurial spirit to be the vessel to fulfill my father's ultimate dream and see my students become something bigger than both of our dreams.

I look forward to being a part of your journey and helping to make your passion a reality. Come & join the Bement Music Studio Family!

Ms. Bement thoroughly prepares her students for college auditions and teaches leadership skills that students take with them no matter what their desired profession may be. "Jenny uses her skills to not only teach and prepare her students to further their music journey, but also teaches empathy, leadership, creativity and 21st century skills. Her gentle honesty, high expectations and open communication parallel her hard work as a musician and educator. Jenny is incredibly patient, inclusive and stays up to date on the latest pedagogy, however, she tends to be leading and working behind the scenes at master level classes. Without a doubt I would recommend Jenny as a private lesson teacher."
